Rat Rods Rock!
A ratty Rat Rod!

We have had an unusual amount of interest in a
particular type of hot rod lately.  What type of car?
Yep, you guessed it, Rat Rods!  The Rat Rod seems
to have a fairly large following so without further ado
we went to pull some of our photos of rat rods out of
the archives and started building a rat rod page for all
the lovers, curiosity seekers and people interested in
building one these unique and one of a kind hot rods!
Flathead Rat Rod

In the photos on this page alone
you can see that there is no
certain engine that has to go in
a rat rod.  Types shown are
small block Chevy, inline six
cylinder and a flathead V8.
Don't know that this one is really a rat rod.  It may be more of a rock-a-billy
lifestyle theme but it's definitely a head turner and in our opinion, very cool!
Send in your Rat Rod

and I'll see that they
find a home here in our
new Rat Rod Section!

Here's a poll I answered the other day and
the messaged I posted.  I think the real
purpose of the poll was to create a
dialouge.  Damn...... it worked too, huh?! lol

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been
created for the
realhotrods group:

WHAT IS A RAT ROD

o A RATTY LOOKING HOT ROD
o A PRIMERED HOT ROD
o NEW TERM FOR TRADITIONAL HOT ROD

Re: New poll for realhotrods

(I replied in the wrong place but, gee, that's
where I was!)

A Rat Rod is a type of street rod built to look
and be "low buck" and unique. It is proud of
all it's rust, every single hole in it that
shows and isn't afraid to sit out in the rain
without a top or a cover! They are usually
slammed and very loud. I've got a photo of
one that the builder used VERY old license
plates, bent and spot welded together, to
form the radiator shroud......... (kind'a torn
on that one as it takes the "low buck" out of
the equation)

PS by the way, I voted "primered" for lack of
a better choice. Most of the primered rods
that I see are being fixed up a bit at a time
and the owners don't plan to leave'em that
way.

That's my 2 cents........ :)
